Panel Discussion: The Good, the Bad and the Future of AI in Night Photography

Panel Discussion: The Good, the Bad and the Future of AI in Night Photography

Artificial Intelligence is one of the most significant technological advances since—well, probably in history. From the way we communicate and learn to the way we work and play, it’s already having profound effects on many aspects of our lives.

Like many significant technologies, AI has the potential to dramatically enhance or harm our civilization. In the world of photography and digital imaging, those benefits and damages can be seen in tools such AI-based noise reduction in post-processing software, as well as deepfake images that make us question reality.

Just as we had an ongoing debate about digital manipulation 20-plus years ago, the use of artificial intelligence in photography is a highly controversial topic today. Do we need to declare when we use it? Are there lines we shouldn’t cross? When does it stop being photography? Is there a point when we can no longer claim AI-generated work as our own? What are the ethical and legal implications of using this technology?

This panel, featuring four current and previous Night Photo Summit speakers and one AI industry expert, will discuss these questions and more during an engaging hour on the evolving use of AI in photography.
