About this speaker
Fascinated by the way the world appears at night, Daniel Freeman has been drawn by a compulsion to photograph in the times when everything is at its quietest, specializing in night photography for nearly two decades. With an extensive portfolio that spans natural and urban long exposure image-making, his photography has allowed him to travel to some fantastic (and bizarre) locations and to experience some incredible nocturnal vistas.
Daniel’s night photography has been featured by the BBC, The Guardian, Aesthetica magazine, Professional Photo Magazine, and many other online and printed outlets. His nocturnal small-town America series was published as the photobook Midnight on Main (2020) by arts publisher Hatje Cantz and won a Silver at the PX-3 Photography awards.
Daniel is also a photography lecturer and has given talks on nocturnal image capture for major photographic institutes.
